There is a most beautifully creative deck and an outdoor grill to enjoy the lovely sunny days and evenings.
What The Surrounding Area Offers You
Eaglenest Sanctuary is neighboured by Eagleyew, a sight to see in and of itself. Eagleyew is a newly constructed Natural Building, which is the home of the owner of both properties.
Right through the trees, and accessible by a short path, is the Trans Canada Trail. 17,000 km of wide open path awaits those wanting to go on long walks or bike rides. This is the same trail where the Kinsol Trestle spans across the Koksilah River.
Just a short drive further down Port Renfrew Rd. is the Koksilah River Provincial Park. With many hiking and biking trails, this is also a popular place for fishing, swimming, rock climbing ,and wild-crafting. If you journey a bit further along Port Renfrew Rd. you will come to The Koksilah Ancient Forest Reserve, where some spectacular ancient forest hiking quietly awaits your visit.
A short drive up the road, in the other direction, is Shawnigan Lake. There is public access to the lake by continuing East along Renfrew Rd, or you can head Southwest on W. Shawnigan Rd to find West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park. This park offers a great place for partaking in water oriented activities and picnicking on the lake shore.
Further up Renfrew Rd. sits the quiet and quaint town of Shawnigan Lake. Here you can find Kali Yoga; a yoga studio that boasts the best acro yoga in the area, Moondance; a music and dance school, Moziro; a cozy local coffee roasters and chocolatier, and Steeples; an old church converted into a casual dining restaurant with gourmet food.
A bit further away is Mill Bay, to the Southeast, and Cobble Hill, to the North. Duncan is a small city about 30 minutes North, while Victoria sits about 35 minutes to the South. Worth mentioning is the adorable little harbour village of Cowichan Bay, which is half way between Cobble Hill and Duncan.
Shuffling between many of these towns you will find the area’s farmers’ markets to partake in shopping locally and supporting area farmers and families. Ask for details about which market is scheduled during your stay at Eaglenest Sanctuary.
